9.30 – 11.30am Lotus Birth
Lotus birth is the practice where, rather than cutting the umbilical cord at birth, it is left intact, so that the baby remains attached to his or her placenta until the cord naturally separates at the umbilicus, just as a cut cord does, some 3-7 days afterwards.
In this session we will explore lotus birth and the physiological, energetic and spiritual benefits of practicing this modern day ritual. We will give practical information on managing baby and placenta during this time, and look at the social and cultural practices and beliefs related to the placenta and umbilical cord following birth.
$20 includes morning tea
Facilitated by Meg Yates, deep tissue therapist, student counsellor and mother of three lotus born children, and Bhava Dokos-Schoell, birth attendant and mother of two lotus born children. Both Meg and Bhava feel lotus birth has been a beautiful experience to bear witness to, allowing each child to complete their own birth process in their own time.
